The passing of Chadwick Boseman was a devastating blow to both the world and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Boseman's impressive acting skills played a significant role in the success of the first Black Panther film. With the upcoming sequel, Wakanda Forever, Director Ryan Coogler aims to pay tribute to his friend and continue the franchise. However, the film is marked by the grief of King T'Challa's passing. To fill the leadership void, Queen Mother Ramonda (Angela Bassett) takes charge, while Shuri (Letitia Wright) works tirelessly to bring back the heart-shaped herb that can anoint a new Black Panther. Meanwhile, Wakanda faces a new threat from Namor (Tenoch Huerta MejÃa), the ruler of an ancient underwater civilization. To protect their homeland, Ramonda, Shuri, Okoye (Danai Gurira), and tech-genius ally Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) must do everything in their power. - Kelly Woo

2.Fire of love (2022)

The movie Fire of Passion is a surprising discovery that may leave you in awe. What's remarkable about this documentary is not just the fact that Katia and Maurice Krafft, both volcano specialists, found love in each other's company, a match forged in the heart of the molten lava. Rather, Fire of Passion impresses with the sheer volume of footage it offers. The Kraffts, who were fond of filming their own work, treated every expedition as if they were the Beatles on tour, giving you a glimpse of their perilous journey from one volcano to the next.
While Miranda July's emotive and sincere narration may not resonate with everyone (although it resonated with me), Fire of Passion has the potential to melt even the coldest of hearts. The Kraffts devoted their lives to studying volcanoes, striving to raise awareness of the dangers lurking within these mountains. Once you learn that some volcanoes are essentially ticking time bombs, waiting to explode – it's just a matter of when – Fire of Passion will keep you spellbound with its incredible story. - Henry T. When a movie is released directly on Disney Plus, one might question its quality. However, Turning Red has proven to be an exception. This poignant coming-of-age tale depicts the experience of puberty through a whimsical lens. The story follows Meilin "Mei" Lee, a 13-year-old girl of Chinese-Canadian descent, who uncovers a devastating family secret. Whenever Mei feels overwhelmed or emotional, she transforms into a giant red panda.
Mei is distraught to have to deal with this new condition, especially as she and her friends are eagerly anticipating a major concert by a popular boy band. Unfortunately, the ceremony that could break the curse coincides with the concert, leading to plenty of tension between Mei and her parents. Her mother, Ming (Sandra Oh), is overprotective and unsympathetic to her struggles. - HTC

Occasionally, we come across a movie that exceeds our expectations by a significant margin. Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers is a prime example of this phenomenon. Despite Disney Plus receiving justified criticism for profiting from old nostalgia, this charming and original reboot brings its previous franchise into the contemporary age, complete with all the subtle hints and references you could want.
The plot is straightforward: Chip (voiced by John Mulaney) and Dale (voiced by Andy Samberg), the main characters of the TV show featured in the film, had a falling out in the past. Dale now works at conventions, while Chip has a desk job. However, when a mystery connected to their previous show emerges, the duo must reconcile to assist a friend. Additionally, a string of amusing cameos adds to the appeal of Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, making it one of Disney Plus's top movies. — HTC

Summer of Soul is a documentary that blends a concert film with a history lesson that is long overdue. It is a significant and relevant piece of work that resonates with the current cultural moment. Moreover, it is an absolute delight to watch and discover a past that most of us are unaware of. This documentary is directed by Questlove, who is making his debut as a director. It features footage from a lesser-known music festival that happened during the summer of 1969, which is not as famous as Woodstock.
The film is a jubilant celebration of Black culture and its excellence, showcasing some remarkable performances by artists like Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, BB King, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Mahalia Jackson, and Mavis Staples, to name a few. The Harlem Culture Festival did not receive the recognition it deserved at the time, but now we can pay attention to it and appreciate its significance. - KW.
